SIRUM
Acerca de
Every year $5 billion worth of unexpired prescription medicine in the U.S. is destroyed. Meanwhile, 50 million people, that’s one in four working-age adults, don’t fill their prescriptions because of cost.
SIRUM is a 501(c)(3) founded at Stanford University that uses technology to connect surplus medicine from pharmacies and health facilities with patients in need. SIRUM has redistributed over $7 million of medicine to safety-net clinics across multiple states, enough for over 150,000 prescriptions. SIRUM’s goal is to become a national solution to the medication access epidemic - where we are able to provide stability and transparency in drug pricing for low income people.
SIRUM has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Smithsonian Magazine and Forbes, and supported by Y Combinator and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
