Interise builds inclusive and equitable local economies through small business. Interise builds the capacity of minority-owned small businesses, and small businesses located in low-income communities. Our StreetWise ‘MBA’™ uses a peer-learning method to provide business owners with the knowledge, know-how, and networks necessary to achieve scale. Interise companies contribute to job creation and build wealth in the local community; historically, they create new jobs at 5x the rate of the private sector. Interise partners with government agencies, anchor institutions, and business associations. Strategic Growth Partners include the Kauffman Foundation, Surdna, and the Prudential Foundation.
Interise licenses the use of the StreetWise 'MBA'™ to partners – government agencies, business associations, anchor institutions, and economic development organizations – across the country. Interise provides the use of the program, training, and support for our partner’s staff, and performance and outcomes assessment. We build the capacity of our partners to work successfully with established small businesses. Our partners bring the local relationships, know-how, and commitment needed to have impact in their own community.
Through Interise’s national network, the StreetWise 'MBA'™ curriculum have served over 6,000 small business owners in 72 cities across the country. Since 2008, Interise has been the national educational provider for the Small Business Administration’s Emerging Leaders Initiative. The University Economic Development Association, and the New England Business Association (formerly SBANE) have each recognized Interise’s impact and scalable model. Our Annual Impact Report details the outcomes arising from our work: http://www.interise.org/our_impact/annual_report_card.
Interise is the right organization for you if you want to work in a social enterprise that is making a significant impact in an environment that is illustrative of our values (http://www.interise.org/about-us/our-mission-and-values).
