Suicide Loss Memorial Foundation
Misión
We don't just remember the people we've lost to suicide — we build places for them. We dig gardens, place benches, and get young people off the sidelines of their own pain. Because grief needs somewhere to go — and our youth deserve more than silence. We build. We grow. We show up. That's our mission.
Acerca de
The Suicide Loss Memorial Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization born in Greeley, Colorado — and we're just getting started. We're building something real here in Northern Colorado with our eyes set on one day reaching every corner of this state, because no community should be without this kind of support.
We want to do things differently.
While many organizations talk about grief, we move through it. We build things. We dig in the dirt. We empower our youth to find their purpose — because we believe the most powerful thing you can do for someone who is suffering is put something real in front of them and say "this is for you, and you are not forgotten."
Who We Serve: We serve individuals and families across Colorado who have lost a loved one to suicide, young people navigating mental health challenges, and anyone who has ever felt like their grief had nowhere to go.
What We Actually Do:
- 🪨 Memorials that Heal — we create permanent physical memorial spaces in communities across Colorado. Park benches, dedicated roadways, gathering places — real, tangible places where families can go to remember their person and feel less alone in their loss
- 🌱 Community Garden — we put people in the dirt together. Gardening alongside others who understand loss creates connection without pressure, conversation without expectation, and purpose without performance
- 🏃 Youth Social Engagement Program — we get kids moving, competing, creating, and connecting. Sports, group outings, workshops — because some young people don't process grief by talking about it. They process it by doing things alongside people who get it
Our Values: We believe action is louder than awareness. We believe a park bench with someone's name on it does more than a ribbon. We believe that showing up — physically, consistently, and with your whole self — is how communities actually change.
What We're Building: We started in Greeley and our goal is to one day have a presence in every Colorado community that needs us — bringing permanent memorials, community gardens, and youth programming to cities and towns across the entire state. We are also pursuing a proposed Rocky Mountain Strong Colorado specialty license plate that will put mental health awareness on roads statewide and generate direct funding for our on-the-ground programs wherever we go.
Why Volunteer With Us: We are small, scrappy, and serious about making a real difference. When you volunteer with us your work will not disappear into a spreadsheet. You will see it. Your community will see it. And the families we serve will feel it.
