Miami Mineralogical and Lapidary Guild

Our mission and purpose are to promote interest and education in the various sciences and arts of Geology, Mineralogy, Gemology, Lapidary Crafts, and other related subjects, and to sponsor and provide means of coordinating the work and efforts of all interested persons and groups.

The club's history goes all the way back to February 21, 1949 when a group of 14 invited guests interested in collecting, cutting and polishing gem stones and fashioning them into jewelry met at the home of Mr. Lynn H Collar. Officers were elected and the name "MIAMI MINERAL AND GEM SOCIETY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA" was selected. Over the years reorganization, adjustments, incorporations and mergers have evolved us into the club we are now.

We formally incorporated and received 501 (c) (3) status in 1972.
