Atlantic Humanitarian Relief

Acerca de

Atlantic Humanitarian Relief, Inc. is, a small Boston based, non-profit established in 2013 in response to the Syrian Crisis. AHR conducts medical and humanitarian missions, to Amman, Jordan, which provide relief to those refugees with little to no access to medical or social care. AHR travels via caravan-like, mobile health units consisting of teams of physician, nurses, therapists, dentists and a team of psychosocial experts.

The Syrian Crisis has continued relentlessly for greater than 6 years. Medical and humanitarian needs of these vulnerable people are pervasive and wholly unmet. Within Jordan and the border countries these refugees have fled and continue to flee to, a huge chasm exists between their basic human needs and the scant resources available. AHR along with other small non-profit organizations have supplemented national and international relief efforts and bridged gaps in care. AHR sets forth to reach the neediest groups of displaced persons in Amman and the Northern Jordan region where these Syrian refugees fled to and have settled in primitive camps. AHR organizes and sends mobile team units comprised of physicians, dentists medical support specialists, pharmacists, surgeons and humanitarians to provided on-the-spot healthcare in makeshift mobile clinics, community centers local hospitals and scattered non-supported refugee campsites.

Atlantic Humanitarian Relief’s main objectives are to seek out the neediest to provide free medical and humanitarian support and link those in need to resources available in Jordan.

In the rural areas, most often in Northern Jordan, there is limited or nonexistent access to healthcare or humanitarian support services. It is in these areas that the underserved most vulnerable groups are residing, almost primitively, and require medical and social support that groups like AHR can provide. AHR provides free, a medical talent, pharmaceuticals and humanitarian supplies required to meet their needs.

The AHR team joins forces collaboratively with willing Jordanian resources including physicians, pharmacists, medical and psychology students, local rehabilitation homes and transportation services to form a cohesive team which partners to deliver the comprehensive care. AHR’s relationships with the existing community providers throughout Jordan have been cultivated over the past 4 years. This collaborative platform is a mechanism, which ensures continuity of treatment and care after the conclusion of AHR’s missions.

Our missions in Jordan service primarily Syrians, but we care for anyone who needs assistance. No one is turned away. No one is charged a fee for services.

Our mission trips deliver no cost healthcare, medications and compassionate humanitarian aid to the most vulnerable and under-served populations.

AHR strives to make a positive impact on individuals treated and the community as a whole. Our goals include:

·     We target new rural areas lacking access to healthcare to date.

·     We are prepared to serve multiple sites per day with “teamlets” staffed with medical providers, pharmacy, dental and humanitarian volunteers.

·     Partner with organizations within Jordan

·     Provide dental services to all sites we visit.

·     Provide surgical interventions when funding allows

·     Identify and fill gap in medical, rehabilitative and psychosocial care.

·     Identify and provide health education and disease prevention strategies.

·     Serve as consultants to rehabilitation home and teach the caregivers models of rehab care.

·     Provide personal humanitarian aid to as many Syrian families as possible (baby formula, hygiene kits, food, clothing etc.).

·     Identify new community and international partners to collaborate with and provide continuity of services.

·     Sustain the partnerships we have established in Jordan so we can improve and expand our medical aid.

·     Identify and expand partnerships with similar minded refugees support programs.

·     Continue to raise local national and international awareness about the Syrian Crisis.

·     Improve access to community resources for both short and long-term rehabilitation and psychosocial support
