The National Conference of State Legislatures improves the quality and effectiveness of state legislatures; fosters interstate communication and cooperation; and ensures that legislatures have a strong, cohesive voice in the federal system.
NCSL is recognized as the preeminent bipartisan organization dedicated to serving the lawmakers and staffs of the nation's 50 states, its commonwealths and territories. It is recognized nationally for its leadership.
NCSL is the only organization that provides an open, bipartisan, national forum for lawmakers to communicate with one another and share ideas.
The Forum for State Health Policy Leadership specializes in health policy-related issues most relevant for state legislators: Medicaid, Medicare, Prescription Drugs, Health Care Workforce, Malpractice, Access/Uninsured Issues, etc. The Forum puts out several publications using various media.
