Acerca de

Voices for a Second Chance bridges the gap from incarceration to the community for justice-involved and returning citizens in the DC community by providing resources and supports for a productive reintegration. Originally a Visitor's Service Center, founded in 1969, Voices for a Second Chance has expanded to meet the complexity of the needs of its clients. Research indicates that, with counseling, support, and a second chance, previously incarcerated citizens successfully transition back into civilian life and contribute to safer environments.

Our programs are designed to fulfill specific needs at different times in the lives of our clients. The first step in our work lies with the First Responder program, followed by our Reentry program. As part of our work, we connect our clients and those around them with companies and organizations for employment and training, housing, medical care, mental health, and other transitional needs. These connections help expand the opportunities available to them. In addition to the returning citizen, we provide help and guidance to the families and loved ones affected by the incarceration of our client.
