Urban Teacher Academy

The Urban Teacher Academy is part of the University of the District of Columbia’s National Center for Urban Education. The Urban Teacher Academy offers a variety of teacher preparation programs that develop highly effective, results-oriented educators who believe that helping students in urban schools achieve their full academic and social potential is the highest form of social justice.

The Urban Teacher Academy works to achieve our mission by:

•placing the practice of teaching at the center of our teacher preparation program

•integrating techniques for teaching special needs students and dual language learners into the curriculum for all teacher candidates

•partnering with public schools in the District of Columbia to align our teacher preparation program with their expectations for highly effective teachers
