Hometown Hero Outdoors

Hometown Hero Outdoors is a 501(c)3 charitable non-profit with the mission of providing law enforcement officers, military service members, and military veterans with outdoor opportunities to assist in healing and building healthy relationships within the community.

We like to think of it as a form of recreational therapy. A way to get those who serve or have served off the couch and onto the water, and into the woods with like minded individuals who share similar backgrounds.

Hometown Hero Outdoors began in 2017 when a group of veterans recognized a shared struggle—one that too many service members faced in silence after their time in uniform: isolation, disconnection, and the loss of purpose.

They saw the power of the outdoors not as recreation, but as a path forward. Through hunting, fishing, and shared experiences in nature, they began creating spaces where healing could happen—alongside others who understood.

What started as a few outings among friends has grown into a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Today, HHO includes military veterans, active service members, law enforcement, and first responders—united by a mission to reconnect, rebuild, and remind every hero: you’re not alone.
