EqualityToledo is a nonprofit organization that works for equality regardless of sexual orientation, marital status, gender identity or gender expression, through education, anti-defamation efforts, and activism.
EqualityToledo began as a response to the unfortunate passage of Ohio’s Issue 1 amendment in November 2004, which defined marriage solely between a woman and man. EqualityToledo educates the community about lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) issues. We network with other local, state, and national non-profit organizations that are dedicated to working for equality. EqualityToledo also leads the Safe Schools Project, making schools safer for all youth; supports a coalition of religious leaders and organizations in our community committed to equality; and assists employers to implement LGBT-friendly policies.
