The Orbit Village Project is located outside of Nairobi, Kenya, and its home base is Sevierville, Tennessee, USA. The project is a 501c3 with no paid staff besides Kenyan workers in the Nairobi project. The project is 100% supported by donations.
Summary of Orbit Village Project's Work:
- Education: Orbit School of the Cross educates over 400 students, primarily orphans and HIV victims, from Pre-K to 12th grade. The school is a KCSE and KCPE testing center. Orbit graduates work in Kenya and eight other countries. Eight Orbit young adults are in college and many graduates are employed there.
- Care: Orbit serves 1,300 nutritious meals weekly to 480 children and staff. The Home-Based Care Program supports 80 needy families with groceries bi-monthly. The Orbit Village Medical Clinic provides healthcare to hundreds, though it is not open full-time. Social workers assist 73 HIV+ clients.
- Housing: Orbit Child Refuge houses 90 orphaned children, with 114 people residing in the Orbit Village.
- Employment: The project employs 53+ Kenyans in various roles and 15 Orbit graduates within the project.
- Community Service: About 1,000 Christmas Baskets are distributed annually to children and families at Orbit and two other locations. A well-stocked library serves the community, and a second project, originating from an internally displaced people camp in 2008, supports people from the Mathare Valley.
- Investment in the Future: Over 1,000 people benefit from the Orbit Village yearly, improving their lives and contributing to Kenya's development. The project helps families overcome challenges and build a brighter future for the next generations of Kenyans.
