Adolescent pregnancies and child marriages is the global problem. About 15 millions girls each year get married before reaching the 18 years age. That is 28 girls every minute. 1 every 2 second.

Sub Saharan Africa had the highest rate of child marriages globally. Tanzania was listed in number 10 among the list of 20 countries with high absolute number of child marriage prevalence as per UNICEF State of the world child,2016.

Adolescent pregnancies remain a major contributor to maternal mortality, infant mortality, child mortality,preterm birth, fistula and to the circle of ill-health and poverty.

Adolescent pregnancies and child marriages directly hinder the achievement of six goals of 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
