The mission of Instituto Familiar de la Raza, Inc., is to promote the health and well-being of diverse communities in San Francisco with a primary emphasis on the Chicano/Latino. IFR strives to achieve its mission by providing a range of mental health and social services, family support, mentoring and HIV services that reflect the spiritual, cultural, socio-political and economic reality of individuals, families, and communities served. We work within within a multicultural family-centered framework. Our practices draw from the wisdom and knowledge found in traditional, complementary and conventional healing strategies. We advocate at local, regional, national and international levels and support the capacity of others to be empowered to create models that respond to the cultural, spiritual and health needs in their communities.
