East Oakland Building Healthy Communities brings together a collaborative of residents, community-based organizations, the public and private sector towards improved community and individual health. This is achieved through the facilitation of collaborative work groups - Health Access, Land Use, Peace Promotion, Economic Opportunity, Youth and Adult Resident Engagement.

Building Healthy Communities (BHC) is a 10-year, comprehensive community initiative funded by The California Endowment (TCE) to create a revolution in the way Californians think about and support health in their communities.

In 14 places across California, residents are proving they have the power to make health happen in their neighborhoods, schools and with prevention—and in doing so, they're creating a brighter future for their children and for our state.

The Alameda County Public Health Department convenes East Oakland Building Healthy Communities and Community Initiatives is its fiscal sponsor.
