Help create a welcoming meal and a sense of home for young people experiencing homelessness.
Covenant House Illinois provides safe shelter, supportive services, and unconditional care to youth ages 18-24 experiencing homelessness. Every evening, dinner is more than just a meal. It's a chance for our youth to slow down, connect, and know that someone cares.
We're looking for dependable Kitchen Volunteers to support our dinner service on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with basic meal preparation
- Serve dinner to youth in a welcoming and respectful manner
- Help clean and sanitize the kitchen and dining area after the meal
- Work alongside staff to create a positive dining experience
- Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 25 years old
- Reliable and able to commit to a consistent weekly schedule
- Respectful, compassionate, and committed to creating an inclusive environment
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform light lifting
Training and Requirements:
All volunteers receive an orientation and must complete:
- Background check
- Required online trainings
