Volunteers are trained by LEC staff to tutor phonics, comprehension, grammar, and word definitions. No prior tutoring or teaching experience is required. Tutors are matched with one child for one hour each week, making it a powerful way for someone to have a direct impact on a child’s life.Get involved at a school closest to you and give back to your community in a meaningful way.

Once your application has been received, a member of our team will contact you as soon as possible with information about the next steps. In the meantime, please visit the Schools tab on our website to view our participating schools: https://lecliteracy.org/schools/. Please note that this is not an all-inclusive list, as new schools are added each year. Our tutoring day and start times are dictated by the principal at each school. Volunteers are assigned one school, one child (the same child) for the entire school year.
