READING TO KIDS: May 9th Reading Clubs

Join us on May 9th, 2026 and help kids discover the joy of reading!
Reading to Kids hosts fun and engaging monthly reading clubs from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Our reading clubs serve students in underserved Los Angeles communities and are hosted at 7 different elementary schools in the Pico-Union and Westlake areas.
As a volunteer, you will:
- Read aloud to a small group of 4 to 6 students (K to 5th grade)
- Lead simple discussions and arts & craft activities
- Help create a positive and encouraging reading experience
No teaching experience is required. Sessions are structured and supported by teachers and experienced volunteers.
This is a great opportunity if you enjoy working with kids, want to give back, or are looking for a flexible monthly volunteer activity!

Volunteers must be 18 or older.

Reading clubs take place at 7 elementary schools in the Pico-Union and Westlake neighborhoods of Los Angeles. Volunteers attend one school per reading club, based on their RSVP.

- Complete the online volunteer application (if you're a first-time volunteer)
- RSVP to the upcoming reading club
Important: Submitting the application alone does not sign you up. You are only confirmed once you RSVP for the reading club!
Spots fill up quickly, so we encourage you to sign up early!
