Descripción
Neighborhood Walk Partner
- Take weekly walks with a visually impaired adult in their own neighborhood. Volunteer may transport participant to a park or other safe walking space.
- Provide assistance as needed to safely walk in areas familiar to the visually impaired participant by using human guide or verbal descriptions. Note: training provided
Basic volunteer qualifications involved with this assignment
- physical ability to walk at a leisurely pace for up to 1 mile on a flat surface
- empath and patience
- good listening skill
- ability to encourage others
Who will be served by this assignment?
Adults who are blind or have low vision. Some participants are elderly and some may have additional physical limitations.
