On-Site Security Officer

Position Summary

Security Officers at LASH Haven play a vital role in maintaining a safe, calm, and orderly environment for both clients and staff. You are not just here to enforce rules — you are a stabilizing presence in the lives of people in crisis. We are looking for security professionals who combine firm professional standards with genuine respect for the dignity of every person they encounter.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor all shelter entry and exit points and maintain access control throughout assigned shift
• Conduct regular perimeter and interior patrols to ensure facility safety and security
• Respond to incidents, disturbances, and emergencies in a calm and professional manner
• Document all security incidents, observations, and actions in the security log
• Enforce shelter rules and behavioral standards consistently and respectfully
• Coordinate with Shelter Manager and direct service staff on safety concerns and incidents
• Assist with de-escalation of client conflicts using trauma-informed approaches
• Control access to client rooms, common areas, and staff-only spaces
• Support safe client intake and exit processes during assigned shift
• Maintain communication with Shelter Manager and respond to staff requests for assistance

Qualifications

• Nevada Security Guard license (registration card) required — or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
• Minimum 1 year of security, law enforcement, military, or related experience preferred
• Experience working with homeless, mental health, or substance use populations strongly preferred
• Strong de-escalation and conflict resolution skills — willingness to use communication before force
• Ability to remain alert and professional throughout a 12-hour shift
• CPR/First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to consistent attendance across all assigned shifts
• Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
