Front Desk Volunteer – Emergency Shelter

Front Desk Volunteers play an essential role in creating a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment at the New London Homeless Hospitality Center. As one of the first people guests encounter, volunteers help set the tone for the shelter by offering a warm greeting, a compassionate presence, and a steady, reassuring approach.

Responsibilities include welcoming guests, answering phones, accepting and organizing donations, maintaining supplies, and assisting shelter staff in responding to guests' needs. Volunteers help keep the front desk organized and contribute to the smooth daily operation of the shelter.

We are looking for individuals who are dependable, compassionate, patient, and comfortable interacting with people from diverse backgrounds. The ideal volunteer is a calm, nonjudgmental presence who understands the importance of treating every guest with dignity and respect.

No prior experience is necessary. Training and staff support are provided.
