Nature Preschool Volunteer

Every Child Outdoors (ECO) seeks volunteers to help out with our nature preschool class in Roslindale. Our program gives young children abundant time outdoors to play, explore, and build a relationship with the natural world. We are committed to making nature-based education accessible across income levels; 62% of our current families receive financial aid.

Volunteers join children and teachers for outdoor play and exploration at the Arnold Arboretum, read stories, help with art and nature activities, organize materials, and provide an extra set of hands throughout the preschool day, all under the supervision of ECO staff.

We’re looking for volunteers who enjoy spending time with young children, are comfortable outdoors in a variety of weather, and are warm, reliable, patient, and respectful. Students, retirees, gardeners, naturalists, and other community members are welcome. We welcome volunteers who speak any language.

Our preschool operates Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. Interested volunteers are invited to schedule an initial visit to see the program in action. References and a background record check are required before volunteering begins. We ask volunteers to commit to at least 50 hours with ECO over time.
