Volunteer Opportunity: Souper Saturday — Jambalaya & Jazz with Soup Angels
Date: Saturday, May 23, 2026 Time: 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Location: Lakewood • Pleasant Grove • Downtown Dallas
Overview
Join Soup Angels for a soulful afternoon of food, music, and community care. This Souper Saturday brings the spirit of New Orleans to Dallas with a Build‑Your‑Own Jambalaya Bar and smooth, classic jazz that sets the tone for comfort, connection, and compassion.
Volunteer Roles
Volunteers will help prepare and serve hearty jambalaya bowls for families, seniors, and unhoused neighbors across Dallas. Tasks include:
- Food prep & assembly — chopping, stirring, building bowls with love
- Organizing toppings — Cajun‑Creole add‑ons and spice boosters
- Serving & packaging — meals to‑go for families and outreach
- Outreach support — helping distribute meals to local communities
Why It Matters
Every bowl served fuels the Soup Angels mission to deliver nourishment, kindness, and connection throughout Dallas. Volunteers help ensure that no one goes hungry — and that every meal is shared with dignity and heart.

If you or your family need meals for the week, Soup Angels offers free outreach soups — no questions, no barriers, just love and nourishment.

From Lakewood Country Club, head south on Abrams Road. Continue straight toward Lindsley Avenue. Turn onto Lindsley Ave and follow it through the neighborhood. Your destination will be on the right side — look for the Soup Angels signs and volunteers outside.

Volunteer Instructions: What to Be On the Lookout For
- Guests arriving for meals — greet everyone warmly and guide them to the Jambalaya Bar or to‑go pickup.
- Families needing extra support — offer help carrying meals or packaging additional servings.
- Outreach meal assembly needs — jump in when the prep line gets busy; keep portions consistent and bowls filled.
- Refilling toppings & ingredients — watch for low items at the Jambalaya Bar and restock as needed.
- Clean, safe serving areas — wipe surfaces, keep utensils organized, and maintain a smooth flow.
- Neighbors who may need directions or assistance — be ready to point them toward parking, seating, or the outreach prep area.
- Guests requesting weekly outreach soups — direct them to the pickup station with kindness and zero barriers.
- Team members needing backup — support each other, communicate, and keep the energy joyful and welcoming.
