Education Committee Chair

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Oversight

• Lead the Education Committee in developing a comprehensive strategy for community and volunteer education.
• Ensure educational programs support CARE’s mission to reduce homelessness, promote adoptions, and enhance animal welfare in Chatham County.
• Advise the Board on emerging trends in animal welfare education, public engagement, and training.

Program Development

• Design and oversee educational initiatives, including public workshops, school presentations, and community events.
• Ensure educational content aligns with current best practices in animal care and rescue.
• Incorporate evaluation methods to measure the effectiveness of programs and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Develop training materials and programs for fosters, adopters, and volunteers.

Community Engagement

• Build partnerships with schools, community groups, veterinarians, and local organizations to expand CARE’s educational reach.
• Represent CARE at community events, speaking engagements, and outreach opportunities.
• Promote awareness around spay/neuter, pet microchipping, vaccinations, and responsible pet ownership.

Committee Management

• Recruit and mentor volunteers to serve on the Education Committee and as program facilitators.
• Coordinate committee meetings and activities, ensuring regular updates to the Board.
• Collaborate with the Communications and Fundraising Committees to amplify educational initiatives through CARE’s digital, social, and community channels.
