    About Pax Christi USA

Pax Christi USA is the national Catholic peace movement, rooted in the Gospel call to be peacemakers. We work to build a world free of war, racism, poverty, and nuclear weapons, and to advance the principles of Catholic social teaching on nonviolence, human dignity, and justice. Our work spans immigration advocacy, Palestinian solidarity, gun violence prevention, racial justice, nuclear disarmament, and more.

This is an opportunity to do meaningful, mission-driven work at the intersection of faith, justice, and communications.

    Role Overview

Pax Christi USA is launching a new podcast as part of our communications ministry, and we are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Podcast Production Intern to help bring it to life. Our Communications Director, Judy Coode, will lead all editorial content — including topic selection, guest identification, and on-air conversation. Your role is to handle everything else: the logistics, coordination, production, and publishing pipeline that makes each episode possible.

This is an ideal position for a student or recent graduate in communications, journalism, audio production, or a related field who wants hands-on experience producing a podcast from the ground up for a nationally recognized nonprofit organization.

    Primary Responsibilities

    Guest Coordination

    • Draft and send professional outreach emails to prospective guests on behalf of the Communications Director
    • Manage scheduling, confirmations, and follow-up communications with guests
    • Prepare and distribute guest prep materials (recording instructions, background info, tech requirements)

    Recording & Technical Logistics

    • Coordinate recording sessions via Zoom, Riverside.fm, or similar remote recording platform
    • Troubleshoot basic technical issues with guests prior to and during recording
    • Collect, organize, and archive all raw audio files

    Audio Editing & Post-Production

    • Edit recorded episodes for clarity, pacing, and quality using Audacity, Adobe Audition, Descript, or GarageBand
    • Remove filler words, long pauses, and technical errors as needed
    • Add intro/outro music and any other audio branding elements provided
    • Export final audio files in the appropriate format for publishing

    Publishing & Distribution

    • Upload finished episodes to the podcast hosting platform (e.g., Buzzsprout, Podbean, or Spotify for Podcasters)
    • Write or format show notes and episode descriptions for each episode
    • Coordinate episode release scheduling in alignment with the Communications Director

    General Production Support

    • Maintain an organized production calendar and episode tracker
    • Manage shared files and folders (Google Drive or equivalent)
    • Flag any issues, delays, or concerns to the Communications Director in a timely manner
    • Assist with other communications tasks as needed and time allows

    What This Role Is Not

The Podcast Production Intern is not responsible for:

    • Selecting podcast topics or episode themes
    • Identifying guests (the Communications Director will lead this with support)
    • On-air hosting, interviewing, or any speaking role
    • Writing or developing the substantive content of any episode

All editorial decisions rest with the Communications Director. Your role is to execute and support — professionally and reliably.

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in communications, journalism, audio production, media studies, or a related field
    • Proficiency with at least one audio editing application (Audacity, Adobe Audition, Descript, GarageBand, or equivalent)
    • Strong written communication skills, particularly for professional email correspondence
    • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
    • Self-directed, reliable, and comfortable working remotely with minimal day-to-day supervision

    Preferred

    • Prior experience producing, editing, or assisting on a podcast, radio program, or audio project
    • Familiarity with podcast hosting platforms (Buzzsprout, Podbean, Anchor/Spotify for Podcasters, etc.)
    • Experience with remote recording tools such as Zoom, Riverside.fm, or SquadCast
    • Familiarity with Google Workspace (Drive, Docs, Calendar, Gmail)
    • Alignment with the values of Pax Christi USA — Catholic social teaching, nonviolence, and justice

    What We Offer

    • Hands-on experience producing a podcast for a nationally recognized organization
    • Mentorship from an experienced nonprofit communications professional
    • A letter of recommendation and professional reference upon successful completion
    • Academic credit coordination available upon request
    • The opportunity to contribute to the mission of peace and justice through your skills
    • Flexible scheduling within a collaborative, mission-driven environment

    How to Apply

Please submit the following to Judy Coode, Communications Director, at Pax Christi USA:

    • A brief cover letter (no more than one page) describing your interest in the role and your relevant experience
    • Your résumé or CV
    • One work sample demonstrating audio editing or podcast production (a link to a podcast, audio clip, or brief description of a project you contributed to is acceptable)

Applications may be submitted by email to the Communications Director.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

Pax Christi USA is an equal opportunity organization and welcomes applicants of all backgrounds.
