Have you served in the military or are you currently serving? Your experience, understanding, and camaraderie can provide comfort and connection to a fellow veteran during one of life's most meaningful journeys.

Amedisys Hospice is seeking Veteran and Active-Duty Military Volunteers to participate in our Veteran-to-Veteran Program. Many of our hospice patients are veterans who find comfort in sharing their stories with someone who understands military culture, service, sacrifice, and the bonds formed while serving our country.

As a Veteran-to-Veteran Volunteer, you can help ensure that no veteran feels forgotten and that every veteran receives the recognition, respect, and gratitude they deserve.

What Volunteers Do

Volunteer activities may include:

• Visiting veteran patients for companionship and conversation
• Listening to and preserving life stories and military experiences
• Participating in Veteran Recognition Ceremonies and pinning events
• Providing a supportive presence for patients and families
• Assisting with special projects that honor military service
• Helping ensure veterans receive meaningful acknowledgment of their service and sacrifices

No medical or personal care is provided by volunteers.

Why Veterans Are Needed

Many veterans receiving hospice care have experiences that are difficult to share with those who have not served. A simple conversation between veterans can create a powerful connection, bringing comfort, validation, and dignity during the final chapter of life.

Whether you served in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, National Guard, Space Force, or are currently serving, your willingness to give back can make a lasting impact.

Qualifications

• Veteran or Active-Duty Military member preferred
• Compassionate, dependable, and respectful
• Comfortable visiting individuals facing serious illness
• Willing to complete hospice volunteer training and onboarding requirements
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries

No prior hospice experience is required. Training and ongoing support are provided.
