Location: Remote (Southern California preferred but not required)
Time Commitment Options:
- Flexible, project-based (5–10 hours/month)
- Six month internship. Internship eligible for a one-time $500 professional development stipend through the Empowerment Fund. The stipend supports participation in a learning-centered internship and is not tied to hourly work.
Are you organized, proactive, and passionate about community-centered cultural work? Join us as a Virtual Assistant and help power the behind-the-scenes operations of Diaspora Peoples’ Place — the organization behind The Peoples Marketplace and the Sumood Series.
Our VA team supports the administrative backbone that makes our cultural events and creative initiatives possible, ensuring that vendors, artists, partners, and community members have a smooth, intentional experience from start to finish.
You’ll gain hands-on experience in nonprofit operations, community organizing, creative project management, and event preparation while working closely with a small team shaping culturally rooted spaces for diaspora communities.
What You’ll Do
- Manage email communication, scheduling, and follow-ups
- Support vendor and artist onboarding
- Update digital platforms (Givebutter, Squarespace, forms, content blocks)
- Assist with document organization, data entry, and file management
- Coordinate volunteer and partner communication through email + WhatsApp
- Prep event materials (run-of-show, lists, info packets)
- Assist with social media scheduling and light admin tasks
- Conduct light research (vendors, venues, contacts, cultural resources)
