Volunteer Art Teacher: 4-Week Winterfest Competition Project (K-5th Grade)

The Salvation Army of Broward County is seeking a creative and enthusiastic Volunteer Art Teacher to lead a special, short-term project for our children’s program. Your mission will be to guide approximately 10 students (grades K-5) in creating a collaborative or individual submission for the Winterfest Student Art Contest.

Responsibilities:

• Curriculum Design: Develop a 3-week art lesson plan focused on the theme of the Winterfest competition.
• Instruction: Lead weekly hands-on art sessions, teaching basic techniques and helping students express their creativity.
• Project Management: Guide students through the process of conceptualizing, creating, and finalizing their entries for submission.
• Mentorship: Provide a supportive environment that builds confidence and encourages artistic exploration.

Qualifications:

• Experience in art education or a strong background in fine arts.
• Previous experience working with elementary-aged children (K-5).
• Ability to commit to one session per week for three consecutive weeks.
• A passion for community service and empowering youth through the arts.

Project Details:

• Duration: 3 weeks
• Dates: Thursdays, February 12, 19, & 26th
• Times: 2pm - 4pm
• Group Size: Approximately 10 students (K-5th)
• Goal: Completion of high-quality entries for the local Winterfest community children's art competition.
