Black Community Bakery GRAND OPENING August 15th - Seeks Photo, Video & Drone Volunteers!

Uhuru Bakery & Cafe's GRAND OPENING event is on August 15th at 3719 W. Florissant Ave. in North St. Louis from Noon-5pm.

The African community will come out to celebrate this tremendous victory for our community and everyone is welcome and encouraged to join! This institution will bring healthy food and jobs and training programs into an otherwise food desert, or as we call it a power desert!

Our Promotions Team is seeking photographers,videographers, and drone operators to capture the dynamic activities and community participation during this historic Grand Opening event. As part of the Grand Opening “Media Army”, you will have official credentials to indicate to all participants and program presenters that you are there with a serious role as part of the team capturing the beauty and excitement of this important event. Everyone is welcome to participate!

Uhuru Bakery & Cafe is part of the Black Power Blueprint, a suite of programs that are transforming North St. Louis through renovation, economic development and political power by, and for, the black community.

We need YOU to help us document this Grand Opening event in a majority Black neighborhood of North St. Louis MO that has been deliberately neglected by the city for decades. This area, now scarred by the vast majority of the 25,000 abandoned houses and lots in St. Louis, is home to the life-changing Black Power Blueprint project.

Black Power Blueprint (BPB) has opened a basketball court, a community garden, and a community farm that distributes free vegetables, painted beautiful murals and continues to renovate abandoned buildings to transform and uplift the long neglected area along the West Florissant Corridor. A Buy Black Power retail store, workforce training program, an African Women's Health Center and Doula Training Program, and a small business district constructed out of shipping containers are all in progress.

You will be helping to revitalize and rejuvenate a once thriving Black/African Community. Come join us and have a great time doing some vitally important work. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
