Role Overview
The Director of Email Security & Digital Trust serves as the leader responsible for protecting MAP's email ecosystem, digital communications, and organizational trust.
This role oversees enterprise email security strategy, phishing defense, business email compromise (BEC) prevention, email authentication, secure communications, and email threat intelligence.
Working closely with Security Operations, Identity & Access Management, Cloud Security, Infrastructure, and executive leadership, the Director develops proactive defenses that protect staff, volunteers, donors, partners, and the families MAP serves from email-based cyber threats.
The ideal candidate is an experienced cybersecurity leader with expertise in enterprise email security, phishing prevention, digital identity, and secure communications.
Key Responsibilities
Email Security Strategy
- Develop and lead MAP's enterprise email security strategy
- Strengthen organizational defenses against email-based attacks
- Establish long-term email security roadmaps
- Improve digital trust and communication security
- Promote security-by-design across messaging platforms
Phishing Defense & Threat Protection
- Lead enterprise phishing prevention initiatives
- Oversee phishing investigations and response efforts
- Improve employee awareness and phishing resilience
- Monitor emerging phishing campaigns
- Strengthen email threat detection capabilities
Business Email Compromise (BEC) Protection
- Develop controls to prevent executive impersonation and financial fraud
- Protect donation systems from fraud attempts
- Support investigations involving email compromise
- Strengthen executive protection capabilities
- Reduce organizational exposure to email-based fraud
Email Authentication & Secure Communications
- Oversee SPF, DKIM, DMARC, BIMI, and domain protection
- Improve email authentication and deliverability
- Support encrypted email and secure messaging initiatives
- Manage digital certificates and secure communication technologies
- Strengthen trust in organizational communications
Cyber Intelligence & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor email threat trends and attacker techniques
- Evaluate emerging email security technologies
- Develop security metrics and maturity assessments
- Recommend improvements to organizational defenses
- Promote continuous innovation in email security
Cross-Divisional Collaboration
- Partner with Security Operations on incident response
- Collaborate with Cloud Security on Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace security
- Support Identity & Access Management initiatives
- Work with Infrastructure teams to strengthen secure communications
- Align email security initiatives with organizational cybersecurity strategy

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in enterprise email security, cybersecurity, information security, or digital communications
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Exchange Online, or enterprise email platforms
- Experience with phishing defense, email authentication, and BEC prevention
- Knowledge of SPF, DKIM, DMARC, BIMI, secure email gateways, and email encryption
- Strong leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills
- Passion for cybersecurity, digital trust, and protecting mission-driven organizations

Leadership Participation
The Director of Email Security & Digital Trust is expected to:
- Attend one weekly Senior Leadership Meeting
- Conduct regular check-ins with direct reports
- Participate in cybersecurity planning and strategic initiatives
- Support cross-divisional collaboration and enterprise security efforts
Volunteer Expectations
- Approximately 5–10 hours per week
- Minimum 6-month commitment required
- Maintain timely and professional communication
- Collaborate through MAP systems and communication platforms
