Enhance the patient experience during mid to long-term stays at INTEGRIS by going beyond the patient to the person inside. In this new pilot program the volunteer will record each person’s story and post it in the room. This will enable staff to form a deeper, more personal connection with the individual.
Make patient rounds on the unit assigned and enquire of all longer-term patients if they are interested in sharing 'their story’. Complete the 'My Story’ template with each interested patient and post on the whiteboard in the patient’s room. After completing the template, post the 'I Told My Story’ card on the patient’s door identifying them as someone who told 'their story’ and also offer them a balloon.
