About Us
BlueTanzanite Volunteers Charity Limited is a grassroots nonprofit organization based in Mirerani, Tanzania. Founded and led by a passionate local changemaker, we are dedicated to transforming lives through education and community empowerment. Our flagship initiative, BlueTanzanite English Medium Pre and Primary School, was built entirely from the founder’s personal savings from Tanzanite mining, and now serves as a beacon of hope for orphans, children from low-income families, and those raised by single parents.

Volunteer Opportunity: Teaching Project
We are inviting compassionate, enthusiastic, and globally-minded volunteers to join our Teaching Project at BlueTanzanite English Medium School. As a volunteer, you will:
- Assist in teaching English, Math, Science, and other subjects to children aged 4–13
- Support classroom activities, storytelling, games, and creative learning
- Help improve students’ spoken and written English skills
- Share your culture and learn from ours in a vibrant, welcoming community
- Contribute to lesson planning and extracurricular activities
- Inspire young minds and leave a lasting impact
Who We’re Looking For
- Passionate about education and child development
- Open-minded, adaptable, and respectful of different cultures
- Fluent in English (teaching experience is a plus, but not required)
- Committed to making a difference, whether for a few weeks or several months

Where We Are: Mirerani, Tanzania
Mirerani is a peaceful and vibrant town located in the Simanjiro District of the Manyara Region, in northern Tanzania. Nestled at the foot of the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro, Mirerani is best known as the world’s only source of Tanzanite, a rare and beautiful gemstone found nowhere else on Earth.
Our community is just 21 kilometers (about 30 minutes by car) from Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), making it easily accessible for international volunteers and visitors. From the airport, a scenic drive through the Tanzanian countryside brings you directly to our school and volunteer center.
Mirerani offers a unique opportunity to experience authentic Tanzanian culture while making a meaningful impact in the lives of children. Volunteers enjoy the warm hospitality of local families, the beauty of the surrounding landscapes, and the chance to explore nearby attractions like Mount Kilimanjaro, Arusha National Park, and the Serengeti.Mirerani, Tanzania
