Maker Mindz is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering K-12 students through hands-on STEM education, interactive tech tools, and inclusive learning opportunities. We bridge educational gaps by providing engaging, accessible web apps, games, and digital learning platforms.

We are seeking a detail-oriented Director of Quality Assurance to lead software testing and quality control across our web and mobile applications. In this hands-on technical role, you will establish testing workflows, execute functional and regression tests, build automated testing scripts, and track bugs to ensure a seamless experience for students, educators, and community partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Testing & Validation: Perform manual and automated testing across our web and mobile applications to identify bugs, performance bottlenecks, and user experience issues.
• Automation Scripting: Create, maintain, and execute automated test scripts for key user flows, features, and updates.
• Bug Tracking & Management: Log, document, and organize reported issues clearly using our Trello QA board, including steps to reproduce and severity ratings.
• Follow-up & Verification: Collaborate with developers and project leads to re-test fixed bugs, conduct regression testing, and verify production releases.
• Quality Standards: Help establish basic QA guidelines and testing checklists for ongoing app updates and new feature rollouts.
• Governance & Syncs: Attend check-ins to share quality metrics, app stability updates, and testing priorities.

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience in software quality assurance, web testing, or mobile app testing.
• Familiarity with writing test automation scripts (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Appium, or similar frameworks).
• Proficiency with task and bug tracking tools (specifically Trello or similar Kanban systems).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in an asynchronous, remote environment.
• Passion for youth STEM education and creating reliable technology for students.

Compensation

This is a volunteer opportunity. Current compensation does not include a 401(k), employee pension, health insurance, vacation pay, sick pay, or other fringe benefits. However, this role provides valuable leadership, board-level governance, and non-profit management experience that is highly beneficial for both academic and industry career pathways.
