Executive Assistant & Operations Coordinator for New Nonprofit (Volunteer)

Descripción
Mending Our Mistakes is seeking a highly organized, dependable volunteer to work closely with the founder of a growing nonprofit focused on supporting parents involved in private custody, visitation, child support, and family court challenges.
This is not a traditional assistant position. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building structure, solving problems, organizing information, and helping turn ideas into action.
The person in this role will help the founder organize priorities, manage projects, coordinate volunteers, keep track of deadlines, improve communication, and help create systems that allow the organization to grow.
Responsibilities may include:
- Helping organize the founder’s weekly priorities and to-do lists
- Tracking deadlines for grants, meetings, applications, and projects
- Assisting with volunteer communication and follow-up
- Coordinating schedules, meetings, and calendar management
- Helping respond to emails and organize contacts
- Organizing Google Drive, Google Workspace, folders, spreadsheets, and forms
- Creating systems to track referrals, volunteers, tasks, and projects
- Helping break larger goals into smaller action steps
- Assisting with social media coordination, content scheduling, or outreach when needed
- Helping identify tasks that can be delegated to other volunteers
- Supporting the founder in staying focused, organized, and on track
This role is best suited for someone who:
- Is highly organized and detail-oriented
- Is comfortable with Google Workspace, spreadsheets, and basic project management tools
- Enjoys solving problems and building systems
- Is patient, flexible, and comfortable working in a fast-moving environment
- Can handle emotionally heavy subject matter with compassion and professionalism
- Is comfortable helping create structure in an organization that is still growing
- Can take broad ideas and help turn them into practical next steps
- Communicates well and is dependable
Our organization supports parents who are struggling with private family court issues, loss of custody, supervised visitation, child support barriers, housing instability, and rebuilding their lives after separation from their children. This work can be emotionally heavy at times, but it is also deeply meaningful.
Because this role will work closely with the founder, it is especially important that the person be patient, nonjudgmental, trustworthy, and comfortable helping organize many moving parts at once.
This position can be flexible and may grow into a larger leadership role over time as the organization expands.
This role will serve as the primary operations support volunteer for the organization. Over time, additional volunteers may assist with areas such as Google Workspace setup, social media, scheduling, grant research, data tracking, volunteer onboarding, and administrative support.
The goal is not for one person to do everything alone, but for this person to help create structure, identify what can be delegated, and help coordinate additional volunteers as the organization grows.
