For 15 years, The Honeycomb Project has reimagined youth volunteerism by empowering children ages 3–17 to play an active role in shaping their communities. Through family-centered programs, we engage kids and their parents in meaningful volunteer opportunities that address pressing issues—from food insecurity to climate action—while providing critical resources and support to local nonprofit partners.
Now, we’re bringing this model to the greater Washington, DC area and inviting families to join the movement.
Featured Project:
Help nourish our community's love for reading and promote literacy in the DMV! Little Free Libraries are small, community-run book exchanges located across the city. They are accessible 24/7 for dropping off book donations or picking up new reads. By stocking a library, your work on this project provides access to free books, encourages literacy, and improves the educational resources available in our communities.
With limited access to books, promoting literacy and a love for reading is more important now than ever. Little Free Library has taken on the mission of fostering community and expanding book access by placing small book-sharing boxes in neighborhoods across the city where anyone can take a book or leave a book. By collecting or purchasing books, your family can support Little Free Library’s mission by improving literacy in our communities.
