Children in foster care need compassionate, dedicated community members to look out for their best interests and speak up when needed.
CASA volunteers are partnered with a child or group of siblings who are involved in the child welfare system. Volunteers spend time with the child/children, gather information about his or her needs from the family, caretakers, teachers, doctors, and caseworkers, and make informed recommendations to the family court about the child’s future. The role of a CASA volunteer is simple: to advocate for whatever is in the best interest of the child/children.
You don't need any educational background or special skills; we will provide all the training you need.
In just 15 hours per month, you can make a difference in a child's life. The next volunteer training begins very soon! We hope you join us!
The best way to learn about this volunteer opportunity is to attend an upcoming information session. During the information session, participants will hear about the foster care system, volunteer requirements, pre-service training, and how CASA volunteers change lives. Thank you for your interest in volunteering with CASA of Passaic and Union Counties!
What is a CASA volunteer?
If you want to know what a Court Appointed Special Advocate is, and what one does, then we recommend reading more at www.casapassaicunion.org/volunteer
If you’ve already done your homework and know that becoming a CASA volunteer is for you, then the first and next step is signing up for a Volunteer Information Session!
How to sign up for an Information Session:
This is a required first step on the path to becoming a powerful voice in a child’s life. At the session, we’ll talk about the role of a Court Appointed Special Advocate, the responsibilities, the requirements, and the training that all CASAs go through before being sworn in by the court — and we’ll be happy to answer any questions you have too!
Information Sessions are a commitment-free opportunity for you to learn more and to see if becoming a CASA is the right fit for you. Sessions typically last 45 minutes to an hour. The Registration link: https://www.casapassaicunion.org/info-session
Best Regards,
