    Volunteer Opportunity: Wellness Hub Lead

    About the Role

The Wellness Hub Lead will coordinate the planning, launch, and day-to-day operations of PAGE Africa's Wellness Hub—a virtual counselling and psychosocial support initiative designed to help Nigerian undergraduates thrive academically, professionally, and personally.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about youth development, mental health advocacy, project coordination, and building systems that create meaningful social impact. The Wellness Hub Lead will work closely with counsellors, volunteers, partners, and the PAGE Africa team to ensure the hub delivers safe, accessible, and high-quality support services.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Wellness Hub.
    • Coordinate the recruitment, onboarding, and engagement of volunteer counsellors and mental health professionals.
    • Develop and maintain operational processes, including client intake, scheduling, referrals, and feedback systems.
    • Ensure all counselling services adhere to ethical standards, confidentiality policies, and safeguarding guidelines.
    • Supervise daily operations and ensure students receive timely, professional, and compassionate support.
    • Build and manage partnerships with universities, student organizations, mental health professionals, and relevant stakeholders.
    • Work with the communications team to promote the Wellness Hub through campaigns, events, and awareness initiatives.
    • Track project performance using key metrics and prepare periodic reports on impact, challenges, and recommendations.
    • Coordinate regular meetings with volunteers and stakeholders to review progress and improve service delivery.
    • Identify opportunities for growth, sustainability, funding, and strategic partnerships.

    Requirements

We are looking for someone who:

    • Holds a degree (or is in the final stage of study) in Psychology, Guidance and Counselling, Social Work, Public Health, Human Development, Education, or a related discipline.
    • Has experience coordinating projects, volunteer teams, student initiatives, or community programmes.
    • Demonstrates a strong passion for youth development, mental health advocacy, and student well-being.
    • Possesses excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
    • Is able to manage multiple priorities while paying close attention to detail.
    • Understands the importance of confidentiality, ethics, and safeguarding when working with vulnerable populations.
    • Is comfortable using digital collaboration tools such as Google Workspace, Zoom or Google Meet, Calendly, and project management platforms.
    • Can work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team.

    Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with one or more of the following will have an added advantage:

    • Experience in counselling, psychosocial support, student affairs, or mental health programmes.
    • Knowledge of Nigeria's mental health landscape and challenges facing undergraduate students.
    • Experience in partnership development, programme management, or nonprofit leadership.
    • Training or certification in Mental Health First Aid, Psychological First Aid, safeguarding, or related areas.

    Commitment

    • Volunteer position
    • Flexible remote work
    • Approximately 8–12 hours per week (may increase during launch periods)
    • Minimum commitment of six months

    What You'll Gain

    • Opportunity to lead a high-impact initiative improving the lives of Nigerian undergraduates.
    • Practical experience in programme management, leadership, and social impact.
    • Collaboration with experienced counsellors, psychologists, and development professionals.
    • Professional development opportunities, mentorship, and networking.
    • Certificate of service and recommendation (based on performance and commitment).

    Who Should Apply?

We're looking for compassionate, proactive, and purpose-driven individuals who believe that every student deserves access to quality mental health, psychosocial, and career support. If you're excited about building systems that empower young people to succeed academically and personally, we'd love to hear from you.
