FYAR is seeking a motivated HR Assistant Volunteer to support our people operations and help welcome new volunteers to our team. This hands-on role focuses on conducting volunteer interviews, supporting onboarding processes, and learning essential HR functions in a nonprofit setting.
This role is perfect for someone interested in human resources, people management, or organizational development who wants to gain practical experience while making a meaningful impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct interviews with prospective volunteers to assess fit and experience
- Guide new volunteers through the onboarding process and answer questions
- Maintain volunteer records and track onboarding completion
- Assist with scheduling interviews and coordinating communications
- Support HR initiatives such as volunteer recognition and retention efforts
- Collaborate with team leads to understand role requirements and team needs
Ideal Candidate
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a welcoming demeanor
- Comfortable conducting interviews on camera with a clear, professional speaking voice
- Excellent at asking questions, active listening, and assessing candidate fit
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple onboarding processes
- Interest in learning HR fundamentals and nonprofit people operations
- Reliable, professional, and passionate about creating positive volunteer experiences
- Prior experience in customer service, recruiting, or people-facing roles is a plus
