Are you retired and looking for a meaningful way to use your life experience, wisdom, and time to help others?
Teshuvah Road Ministries, Inc. DBA Recovery Room 7 is seeking three dedicated volunteer Board Directors to help guide and support our Christian nonprofit ministry.
Recovery Room 7 is a 501(c)(3) Christian nonprofit ministry dedicated to helping people find genuine freedom from addiction through Jesus Christ. Our work focuses on how to navigate life after detox through Biblical recovery, discipleship, encouragement, education, and individualized support for people seeking a life beyond addiction.
WE ESPECIALLY WANT TO HEAR FROM RETIREES
Retirement doesn’t mean your experience is no longer needed. In fact, the wisdom, perspective, patience, and practical knowledge you have gained throughout your life may be exactly what a nonprofit ministry like ours needs. We, the co-founders are retirees too!
You do not need an impressive résumé or a particular professional background to serve.
Maybe you spent your working years raising a family, running a small business, working in an office, teaching, driving a truck, caring for others, working in healthcare, serving in ministry, working with your hands, managing a household, or doing something entirely different.
YOUR LIFE EXPERIENCE HAS VALUE!
NO BOARD EXPERIENCE? THAT'S OKAY.
No previous experience serving on a Board of Directors is necessary. We will train you.
We will provide guidance so you understand your role, your responsibilities, how our Board operates, and what is expected of you as a nonprofit Board Director.
You do not need to know nonprofit governance before you begin.
What matters most to us is that you are:
- Dependable
- Willing to learn
- Thoughtful and responsible
- Supportive of our Christian mission
- Able to use sound judgment
- Willing to participate and communicate
- Genuinely interested in helping our ministry grow and serve others
AS A VOLUNTEER BOARD DIRECTOR, YOU WOULD:
- Participate in Board meetings and important organizational decisions
- Review and vote on appropriate Board matters
- Help provide oversight and accountability
- Offer your ideas, wisdom, and life experience
- Help protect and advance the mission of Recovery Room 7
- Provide guidance as the ministry grows
- Serve as an ambassador for the organization when appropriate
- Receive training and guidance regarding your responsibilities as a nonprofit Board Director
We are not looking for someone simply willing to have their name listed on our paperwork. We are looking for three people who want to participate, communicate, and become a meaningful part of what we are building.
This is an UNPAID VOLUNTEER Board position.
Because Recovery Room 7 is a distinctly Christian ministry, applicants should be comfortable being in agreement our Biblical Christian mission and the work we do with individuals affected by addiction.
YOU MAY BE EXACTLY WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
If you have never served on a nonprofit Board before, please do not let that stop you from applying.
We will train you.
We are far more interested in character, dependability, wisdom, compassion, common sense, and a willing heart than an impressive list of credentials.
If you are retired and have ever thought, “I still have something valuable to give,” we would love to hear from you.
Your working years may be behind you, but your experience, wisdom, and ability to make a difference certainly are not.
We currently have three volunteer Board Director positions available which, when seats are filled will equal 5 Directors in total.
To be considered, please tell us a little about yourself, your life and work experience, why this ministry interests you, and what you believe you could bring to our Board.

We would love to learn a little about you and why this volunteer Board position interests you.
No previous Board of Directors experience is necessary. We provide training and guidance. We especially welcome retirees who would like to put their life experience, wisdom, faith, and available time toward meaningful service.
When applying, please briefly tell us:
- A little about your life and work experience
- Why you are interested in Recovery Room 7 and our Christian mission
- Any skills, interests, talents, or experience you feel could benefit our ministry
- Your general availability for Board meetings
- The best way to contact you
- Your email that you check daily
A formal résumé is NOT required. We are much more interested in finding dependable, thoughtful, responsible people with a heart to serve than in impressive credentials or previous Board experience.
After our initial interview, applicants who are selected to move forward will be asked to provide two personal or professional references with contact information. Formal letters of recommendation are not necessary.
Final Board candidates will also be asked to sign a simple Board Service Agreement outlining ministry expectations, confidentiality, participation, and the basic responsibilities of serving as a Director.
Nothing complicated—we will walk you through the process and provide the training and guidance you need to understand your role and serve confidently and effectively.
We are currently seeking three volunteer Board Directors who are willing to participate, communicate, and become a meaningful part of our ministry—not simply have their names listed as Board members.
