Volunteer Podcast Presenter
Role title: Podcast Presenter — Africa's Education Enablers Series Reports to: Podcast Series Manager Location: Remote (recorded or live-recorded audio) Commitment: Per-episode — choose one or more of the ten episodes below Time per episode: ~2–3 hours total (pre-episode briefing, recording, short post-episode debrief)
About the role
The Presenter hosts a single podcast episode — a shorter, more conversational format than the webinars, usually built around one guest or one theme rather than a panel. You carry the conversation, ask the questions that get a real answer instead of a rehearsed one, and close the episode by tying it back to what a listener can actually do next.
What you'll actually do
- Join a short pre-recording briefing to review the episode's theme, guest (if any), and question outline.
- Record the episode — live-recorded or pre-recorded, depending on the guest's availability.
- Keep the conversation on theme and on time without making it feel scripted.
- Close with a clear connection to the relevant NESA-Africa or EduAid-Africa pathway for that episode.
- Take part in a brief post-recording debrief to flag anything for the write-up (a strong quote, a correction needed, a follow-up worth chasing).
Choose your episode(s)
Apply for one, several, or the full run. Episodes 8 & 9 don't have a confirmed date or topic yet — if you're interested in one of those, apply and note it; we'll follow up once they're locked in rather than assigning an unconfirmed slot now.

What we're looking for
- A clear, engaging speaking voice and comfort either interviewing a guest or narrating solo.
- Genuine curiosity — the format rewards someone who'll actually follow an interesting answer rather than moving straight to the next question on the list.
- Basic familiarity with recording on your own device is a plus but not required — production support is available separately.
- Available for the pre-recording briefing, not just the recording slot.
How to apply
Apply via the NESA-Africa Idealist listing or the volunteer form on nesa.africa. Note your preferred episode(s) and, if you have one, a short example of previous hosting, interviewing, or voice work.

If you're selected: you'll develop a 2-hour interactive script for your episode's live/recorded session — designed to keep the guest and any live audience engaged through the discussion, and structured so the conversation actively promotes the award categories that episode connects to, rather than treating that connection as an afterthought.
PODCAST PRESENTER — How to Apply
- Review the episode list. Ten episodes, two (8 & 9) still unconfirmed — pick the episode(s) that genuinely interest you; if it's one of the unconfirmed ones, say so and we'll follow up once it's locked in.
- Answer the two short application questions (which episode(s) draw you in and what you'd ask that hasn't been covered; a conversation where a follow-up question got a better answer than the original).
- Submit your application via the NESA-Africa Idealist listing or the volunteer form at nesa.africa, noting your preferred episode(s).
- If shortlisted, you'll have a short call with the Podcast Series Manager to confirm fit and your episode.
- If confirmed, you'll develop a 2-hour interactive episode script — a real working task used to confirm you're ready to record, not just a conversation about the idea.
- You'll receive a briefing ahead of recording with guest details (if applicable) and the categories your episode connects to.
