About Mentor A Promise
Mentor A Promise (MAP) is a New York City–based nonprofit serving children and youth ages 5–18 experiencing housing instability through mentorship, literacy, social-emotional learning (SEL), career pathways, and community partnerships. Programs are the core of MAP’s mission—where relationships, consistency, and impact are built every day.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Program Manager to work with the senior executive leadership team (Chiefs) to ensure projects and initiatives are on track and to drive progress across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend weekly Chiefs meeting, take notes, record next steps
- Check in with Chiefs weekly one on one to ensure project progress
- Assist in removing roadblocks
- Provide timely updates to CEO on progress, delays or bottlenecks
- Monitor effectiveness and identify areas for improvement
- Ensure alignment with MAP’s mission and dignity-centered approach
- Develop systems for tracking program performance and outcomes
- Prepare updates and reports for leadership
- Maintain clear, timely communication across leadership and program teams
- Ensure responsiveness via Google Workspace and organizational systems
Qualifications
Required
- Experience in program or project management
- Collaboration and communications skills
- Initiative, attention to detail, organization, follow thorough
- Strong operational, and strategic thinking skills
- Alignment with MAP’s mission and dignity-centered values
Preferred
- Experience in nonprofit or school-based environments
Commitment
- Approximately 5–10 hours per week
- Minimum 6-month commitment required
- Hybrid / remote with NYC-based coordination as needed
