    Descripción

    A Hospice Patient Care Volunteer

    VITAS is looking for kind and caring people to help terminally ill patients and their families. Friendly visits, simple errands, providing a listening ear and the gift of friendship at a crucial time can make a real difference in another's life. Yours, too! Responsibilities include providing respite care (sit with a patient while the caregiver takes a break); friendly visits to patients and their families at home or in a nursing home; reading; writing letters, playing games, run errands to the grocery store, drug store, post office. We have many specialty programs that are patient specific as well.

    All volunteers must attend a 1 hr Zoom AND a comprehensive in-person orientation to gain the knowledge you will need to work with terminally ill patients. TB screen and background check are also required and covered by VITAS. Zoom orientation held 3x per month and in-person every other month.

    Our next in-person orientation is:

    Saturday, January 11th from 8:30 am - 4 pm

    Orientation is held at our office located at:

    Continental breakfast and lunch provided.

    There is also an option to complete orientation a via Zoom and self-study combination.
