    Job Title: UI/UX Design Intern [CPT/OPT Eligible]

    Division: Marketing & Communications

    Department: Digital Media & Creative Design

    Location: Remote / Hybrid Opportunities Available

    Internship Type: Unpaid | CPT/OPT Eligible

    Start Date: Rolling (Flexible)

    Time Commitment: 12 - 21 hours/week

We also encourage, enlighten, and equip our community partners to recognize and provide meaningful outreach opportunities, particularly as we support the international population in developing stronger, lasting connections within their communities.

    About the Role

    We are looking for a motivated UX/UI Designer (Intern/Volunteer) to join our team. This role is a great opportunity for students, recent graduates, or early-career designers who want to gain hands-on experience while making a positive social impact.

    Experience & Education

    • Open to students, recent graduates, or early-career designers
    • Relevant coursework or volunteer experience in design/research is a plus
    • Any team-based project experience (school, internship, or volunteer work) shows collaboration skills

    Responsibilities

    • Design user flows, sitemaps, and wireframes for web-based tools
    • Create low-fidelity and high-fidelity mockups in Figma
    • Support the team in building and maintaining a consistent design system
    • Collaborate with pm, developers, and other volunteers to refine user experiences
    • Participate in usability reviews and incorporate feedback into designs
    • Contribute to improving accessibility and usability

    Qualifications

    • Familiarity with UI/UX design principles and design thinking
    • Proficiency in Figma (wireframing, prototyping, and design system usage)
    • Basic knowledge of user research and workflow mapping
    • A portfolio (academic, personal, or professional) showcasing at least one design project
    • Strong communication skills, openness to feedback, and willingness to learn

    Tools we use

    • Figma & FigJam
    • Google Drive
    • WordPress (for implementation support)
    • Other collaboration tools as needed

    Minimum Requirements

    • Basic knowledge of Figma and design principles
    • Ability to commit to weekly Wednesday meetings

    Nice-to-Have

    • Knowledge of accessibility best practices (WCAG)
    • Familiarity with Google Workspace, WordPress, or other collaboration tools
    • Interest in nonprofit or social-impact projects

    CPT/OPT Eligibility & Compliance:

    This internship position is designed to meet the requirements for Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and Optional Practical Training (OPT) for international students.

    For CPT: Students must obtain authorization from their academic institution prior to starting the internship. The internship must be directly related to the student’s field of study and integral to their curriculum.

    For OPT: Students must have received their Employment Authorization Document (EAD) and the role must be related to their degree program.

    Note: This internship opportunity is open to all students—international or domestic—and is not limited only to CPT or OPT participants. WoMen of Connections Ministry welcomes applicants from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds.

    WoMen of Connections Ministry will provide documentation of duties, supervision, and hours worked to assist with school and USCIS compliance as applicable.
