    Descripción

    The Time & Scorekeeper supports Special Olympics Maine soccer competitions by accurately tracking game time, score, and other basic match information. This volunteer plays an important role in helping competitions run smoothly, fairly, and on schedule while creating a positive experience for athletes, coaches, and officials.

    Special Olympics Maine Soccer Match Descriptions:

    • 5-A-Side games on youth size soccer fields
    • 2, 8-minute running halves
    • 4-minute half time

    Key Responsibilities

    • Accurately operate the game clock and keep track of match time.
    • Record and maintain the current score throughout the game.
    • Record goals and other required game information as directed by the competition staff or referee.
    • Communicate the score and time clearly with the referee when needed.
    • Notify the referee of the end of each half or the game according to tournament procedures.
    • Assist with keeping games on schedule and being prepared for the next match.
    • Remain attentive throughout the game and promptly communicate any timing or scoring concerns to the referee.
    • Follow all Special Olympics Maine competition procedures and directions from event staff.
    • Maintain a positive, encouraging, and respectful attitude toward athletes, coaches, officials, and fellow volunteers.

    Qualifications

    • Comfortable keeping track of time and score in a fast-paced sports environment.
    • Able to remain focused and attentive throughout a game.
    • Basic understanding of soccer is helpful but not required.
    • Reliable, responsible, and willing to follow directions.
    • Comfortable working as part of a team with referees and other competition volunteers.

    Training

    Training and instructions will be provided prior to the competition. Volunteers will receive guidance on operating the timing equipment, recording scores, and following Special Olympics Maine soccer competition procedures.

    Time Commitment

    Volunteers should arrive 15–30 minutes before their assigned game or shift to check in, receive instructions, and become familiar with the equipment and field assignment.

    By keeping accurate time and score, this volunteer helps ensure that every athlete receives a fair and well-organized competition experience. Your attention to detail helps keep the game moving and allows athletes to focus on what matters most—competing, having fun, and being part of Special Olympics Maine.
