Deliver Meals to Older Adults in Roseville!

Delivering food as an Optage Meals volunteer is a great opportunity to help older individuals in your community! Our volunteers deliver much more than a meal—they bring warm smiles and much-needed safety checks to seniors and adults with disabilities. As a driver, you will make valued connections with your neighbors and help them remain independent in their own homes. Volunteers deliver meals to clients, occasionally put away meals in clients' freezers, and bring cheer to everyone they interact with. Volunteers are invited to bring their spouse, children, or grandchildren in the car with them!

Essential Duties:

• Deliver meals to the homes of clients
• Follow delivery route instructions
• Chat with clients and put their meals in their freezer if they need additional help
• Report back to the primary Optage driver or the volunteer coordinator if you have concerns about clients
• Maintain a respectful relationship with clients, staff, and volunteers
• Maintain confidentiality of client records and personal information

Minimum Qualifications:

• Access to your own vehicle
• Valid driver's license
• Valid proof of insurance
• Ability to pass a background check
• Reliable in all weather conditions
• Ability to lift 15-30lb delivery bags into your vehicle and up occasional flights of stairs

Location and Time Commitment/Hours:

• We can adjust the number of stops on your route in order to fit your specific time constraints. You will pick up meals at the Optage Meals office and will return to the office to drop off the cooler bags between 8 and 3:30. We welcome volunteers who would like to deliver over their lunch hour!

Work Environment:

• This position is completed using your own vehicle, and you will drive independently unless you choose to bring someone along in the car with you. Ride-along training is available if you would like additional help during your onboarding process. We are specifically interested in volunteers who are comfortable driving in many different types of weather.

Training and/or Support Provided:

• General volunteer orientation
• Annual volunteer training
• Specific ride-along training if desired
