About Magnolia Project: Magnolia Project prepares middle and high school students for their meaningful next phase after K-12 – whether college, career, or another path – by connecting them with durable skills through personalized career exploration as well as hands-on experience alongside trusted industry mentors.

Overview:The Magnolia Project is seeking passionate industry professionals to serve as Career Explorations mentors for middle and high school students in Marin and Sonoma Counties. As a mentor, you’ll introduce small groups of students to your field, lead hands-on projects, and inspire the next generation to explore meaningful career paths. This 3–4 day, project-based opportunity—offered several times per school year—will allow you to give back by sharing your industry skills, and help develop the next generation workforce in our community.

    What You’ll Do:

    • Work with experienced teachers to design and lead engaging, hands-on, project-based activities showcasing your industry
    • Mentor small groups of students for 3–4 consecutive school days at the school site (approximately 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.), scheduled throughout the fall and spring
    • Participate in a brief interview day (~2 hours) with students for each program
    • Attend a mandatory 3-hour training session on September 10, 2025
    • Collaborate with the Magnolia Project team to support student success
    • Complete a Background Check and TB screening (required)
    • Confirm your availability for potential mentorship dates during the summer scheduling process for the upcoming school year

    Who You Are:

    • A professional (currently employed or retired) with real-world experience in any of the following fields: trade skills, tech, health care, business, automotive, creative arts, graphic design, law, culinary arts, or other relevant industries
    • Enthusiastic about working with middle and high school students (ages 11-17)
    • Reliable, punctual, collaborative, and positive
    • Willing to support diverse learners with empathy and cultural awareness

    Why Join Us:

    • The opportunity change lives, build relationships and inspire the next generation of professionals in the North Bay.
    • Inspire students to explore professional futures
    • Receive a small stipend ($250-$300 per program day) and all necessary materials for your hands-on projects.
    • Flexible scheduling with programs held during the school day
    • It’s so much fun!
