Silverado Hospice in Orange County offers a fun and fulfilling volunteer opportunity called Petals For Patients. The Petals For Patients volunteers meet each week on Tuesday mornings at the Irvine office at 9:30 am to arrange flowers for the patients and families. Local grocers, florists and every now and then independent contractors donate beautiful flowers.
Volunteers are given the flowers, but can also feel free to bring some in. All tools needed to make an arrangement, such as the vases, pruners, ribbons, and other supplies will be available, although volunteers are free to bring their own supplies, especially small vases. Volunteers will come into the Silverado Hospice office from 9:30 am-11:30 am depending how many flowers and volunteers are available. Sometimes the opportunity ends before, after, or around 11:30 am, but volunteers are free to stay however long they can. This is an ongoing opportunity.
The hospice accepts donations for flowers and small jars/vases.
