    Descripción

Equiping teachers, empowering parents, and deliver evidence-based reading interventions so children with dyslexia and invisible learning diffiulties are no longer mislabeled, punished, or left behind. Through our model school, we turn struggling readers into confident learners.

Volunteering with Dyslexia Organisation Kenya means stepping into a classroom where a child’s struggle turns into a smile, where letters finally make sense, confidence grows, and potential comes alive. At Rare Gem Talent School, volunteers support reading sessions, creative expression, and one-on-one learning, while helping teachers introduce evidence-based literacy tools. Beyond the classroom, volunteers contribute to raising awareness, advocacy, and storytelling efforts that change how communities perceive learners who think differently. It is meaningful and heart-warming work that transforms not only the children we serve, but also the volunteers who walk alongside them.

While DOK welcomes volunteers from diverse backgrounds, individuals with interest or experience in the following areas are especially encouraged to apply:

    • Passion to work neurodivergent children
    • Education, literacy, or special needs education
    • Psychology, social work, community development, or youth work
    • Early childhood development and teaching
    • Research, data analysis, or documentation
    • Communications, media, or digital storytelling
    • Event planning, logistics, and coordination
    • Fundraising, proposal writing, or partnership engagement
    • Speech therapy, occupational therapy, or related fields
