    About LandSeed

LandSeed is a nonprofit innovating solutions to Canada’s housing crisis by leveraging technology, partnerships, and bold ideas. At this stage of rapid growth, we require a project leader who can combine strong project management skills with software knowledge to ensure our initiatives run smoothly, are well-documented, and achieve measurable results.

How This Opportunity Will Benefit You

As Project Manager, you will gain firsthand experience leading complex, tech-driven projects in a mission-driven nonprofit. This role gives you the opportunity to shape project frameworks, apply your software knowledge in reporting and metrics, and collaborate with visionary leaders and technical teams. While starting as a volunteer position, it is designed to evolve into a compensated role as LandSeed secures funding—allowing you to establish yourself early as a key operational driver in one of Canada’s most innovative housing initiatives.

How LandSeed Will Benefit From Your Contribution

LandSeed will benefit from your ability to bring structure, clarity, and accountability to our projects. Your technical knowledge will allow you to define reporting frameworks, track KPIs, and communicate performance effectively to both internal and external stakeholders. By ensuring projects remain on time, within scope, and aligned with our strategic goals, your leadership will directly increase our capacity to scale and deliver impact.

    Role Overview

The Project Manager (with Software Knowledge) will oversee planning, reporting, and execution of projects. This role requires not only traditional project management skills but also technical literacy to design reporting dashboards, interpret performance metrics, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

    Key Responsibilities

    Strategic Oversight & Planning

    • Define reporting frameworks, including what, when, and to whom updates are provided.
    • Set KPIs and metrics to monitor progress, quality, budget, and timelines.

    Status Reporting

    • Deliver weekly/monthly progress reports outlining completed tasks, blockers, and upcoming milestones.
    • Conduct sprint reviews and retrospectives, tracking velocity and outcomes.
    • Build executive dashboards and visual summaries using tools such as Jira, Confluence, or Power BI.

    Budget & Resource Reporting

    • Track actual vs. projected costs and report variances.
    • Monitor resource utilization and recommend adjustments.

    Risk & Issue Reporting

    • Maintain and update risk registers with mitigation strategies.
    • Escalate unresolved issues and highlight impact on scope, budget, or timeline.

    Performance & Quality Reporting

    • Track code quality metrics such as test coverage, defect rates, and technical debt.
    • Monitor team performance, morale, and capacity planning.

    Documentation & Audit Trail

    • Maintain project artifacts including reports, meeting minutes, and change requests.
    • Provide compliance reporting and documentation for audits when necessary.

    Stakeholder Communication

    • Tailor reports for different audiences (technical vs. executive).
    • Present findings in steering committees, town halls, or leadership meetings.

    Required Experience & Skills

    • Minimum 3–5 years in project management, preferably with exposure to software development or tech-driven projects.
    • Strong understanding of reporting tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Power BI, or similar).
    • Familiarity with Agile methodologies (scrum, sprint planning, retrospectives).
    • Excellent communication skills, with ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Strong analytical and organizational abilities.
    • Knowledge of budget tracking and resource allocation.
    • Bonus: Background in software engineering, QA, or business analysis.

    Important Note

This role is for experienced project leaders with technical literacy. If you do not have both project management and software knowledge, please do not apply. We are looking for a candidate who can meaningfully contribute from day one and grow into a long-term, compensated leadership position.
