About Mentor A Promise
Mentor A Promise (MAP) is a youth-centered nonprofit dedicated to supporting students ages 5–18 experiencing housing instability in New York City. Through mentorship, social-emotional learning, academic enrichment, and creative expression, we create safe, consistent, and empowering spaces for young people to grow, thrive, and succeed. We believe every child deserves a promise kept — and we work every day to make that promise real.
The Volunteer Director of Recruiting will play a pivotal role in expanding our mentorship programs by attracting, engaging, and onboarding qualified volunteers. This leadership position requires a passionate individual who is committed to our mission and has a knack for connecting with people.
Responsibilities:
- Develop Recruitment Strategies: Create and implement effective recruitment strategies to attract a diverse pool of volunteers.
- Outreach Activities: Organize and participate in community outreach events, information sessions, and volunteer fairs to promote mentorship opportunities.
- Screening and Interviewing: Oversee the screening and interviewing process for potential volunteers to ensure they align with our values and mission.
- Training and Onboarding: Collaborate with team members to create training materials and onboarding processes for new volunteers.
- Database Management: Maintain accurate records of applicants and volunteers in our recruitment database.
- Collaboration: Partner with other departments to understand volunteer needs and align recruitment efforts with organizational goals.
- Reporting: Track recruitment metrics and provide regular reports to the leadership team on progress and areas for improvement.
Qualifications:
- Passion for Mentorship: A strong commitment to the mission of Mentor a Promise and a desire to make a positive impact in the community.
- Experience in managing recruiting processes and team
- Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, with attention to detail.
- Team Player: Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively with a team and independently.
