About SmallSpark
SmallSpark is a nonprofit technology organization building care-focused IT support and technology equity for nonprofits, small businesses, schools and communities. Our four mission programs offer free, hands-on technology help for the people who need it most.
Our Mission Programs
- SparkLab (ages 13–24): Hands-on, age-appropriate technology learning that grows from foundational skills into practical IT experience, mentorship and career readiness. Includes workshops, cohort programs, real projects and career preparation.
- SparkAssist (seniors): Patient, unhurried technology help for older adults, including residents of assisted living, independent living and senior communities. Topics include online safety, video calling, passwords and making devices easier to see and use. Family members are welcome.
- SparkService (veterans): Support for veterans at any stage, from recently separated to decades out. We help find, organize and safely store the documents the VA asks for, and help with records, accounts and devices, in partnership with veteran-serving organizations.
- SparkAccess (housing instability): Technology access and digital independence for people experiencing homelessness or housing instability. Delivered with shelters, day centers, libraries, housing organizations and workforce programs, it covers devices, connectivity, accounts, online services and job-search technology.

- Help veterans organize and securely store important documents
- Mentor SparkLab participants who are exploring tech skills and careers
- Encourage participants and celebrate their progress
What we're looking for
- Comfortable with everyday technology (no IT background required)
- Patient, kind and respectful toward people of every age, background and experience level
- Clear communicator who's happy to explain things more than once
- Teaching, tutoring, customer service or tech support experience is a plus for instructors
- Reliable: shows up for the sessions you sign up for
- Willing to complete a background check
